Bukele's statements come in a week in which the abrupt decline in the digital currency has caused a fluctuation that has brought its value below $18,000.
The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, called on people worried or anxious about the value of bitcoin to remain calm, amid the downward trend that the digital currency is experiencing and, in general, the global cryptocurrency market.
Stop looking at the graph and enjoy life. If you invested in bitcoin, your investment is safe and its value will grow a lot after the bear market. Patience is the key, the president wrote on Twitter this Sunday.
Bukele's statements come in a week in which the sharp decline in bitcoin has caused a fluctuation that has brought its value below $18,000, sparking concern among investors. Some companies have even opted to downsize their workforce, as happened at US cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase.
It is estimated that this collapse would have caused El Salvador losses equivalent to almost half of its crypto investment.
The Central American country, which has adopted the world's main cryptocurrency as legal tender, has spent a total of 103 million dollars buying 2,301 bitcoins.
