Mobile payment usage in Spain has grown almost 10% since 2019, driven by changing consumer behavior and the integration of new payment methods by companies.
According to a report by news agency Europa Press, 14% of Spanish internet users complete international online purchases using mobile payment, just 1% more than in 2020 according to data from the National Observatory of Technology and Society (ONTSI) analyzed by the Spanish platform.
This trend of increased usage is accompanied by a decrease in the use of cash in the Eurozone, which has fallen 20% since 2016 to reach 59% according to a report by the European Central Bank. However, it is important to note that on the other hand, platform Denaria also recently reported that the use of cash had regained ground among Spaniards.
