This infrastructure is being prepared to start operating as of September 7, when the so-called 'Bitcóin Law' comes into effect.
In El Salvador, the installation of bitcoin ATMs began, which will allow citizens to convert the cryptocurrency into US dollars and withdraw them in cash.
In total, as explained by the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, through his Twitter account, 200 ATMs will initially be installed to access the bitcoin digital wallet Chivo, created by the Salvadoran government.
"All the bitcoin you receive will be automatically converted into dollars (if you wish) and you can leave it in the electronic wallet or withdraw it in cash at any of the 200 ATMs that will be everywhere," said the president.
In addition to the ATMs, there will also be 50 branches to withdraw or deposit money related to bitcoin.
"The Chivo Points (ATMs and branches) are being built everywhere. There they will be able to receive help on how to use the application, how bitcoin works, how to withdraw or deposit money, how to use ATMs and how to receive money from anywhere in the world ", explained the president.
This infrastructure is being prepared to start operating as of September 7, when the so-called 'Bitcóin Law' comes into force, which allows the use of this cryptocurrency as legal tender in the territory, approved by the Salvadoran Legislative Assembly last 8 of June.
